The United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is an island nation situated off the northwestern coast of mainland Europe. It encompasses the entire island of Great Britain, comprising England, Wales, and Scotland, as well as the northern part of the island of Ireland. Occasionally, the term “Britain” is used to encompass the entire United Kingdom. The capital of the United Kingdom is London, a global hub for commerce, finance, and culture. Other major cities within the country include Birmingham, Liverpool, and Manchester in England, Belfast and Londonderry in Northern Ireland, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland, and Swansea and Cardiff in Wales.
